MICROWAVE BAND
The 1216 model's third 'microwave' band covers the 3.0 - 12.0 GHz range.  It's great at finding WiFi and other wireless signals that work at 5.0 GHz and higher.  These microwave frequencies are sneakier because normal RF detectors can't spot them, but the 1216 model finds them quickly.
 
ALARM FEATURE
The Alarm feature is a real help when there's background interference.  You can adjust the threshold, and the device will make a sound when a signal goes over it.  It's handy when checking hard-to-reach spots or wanting to keep the device on guard.  You've got 48 steps to fine-tune the alarm threshold.
 
HISTOGRAM SIGNAL HISTORY
When using just one band, the 1216 model shows a histogram for that band along with the bar graph.  This histogram draws out the signal history from the last 5 seconds.  It's really useful when looking at signals that come and go or when you need to check an area quickly.
 
WI-FI AND 3G SIGNALS
The 1216 model is much better at spotting 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth signals than your average RF detector.  This is thanks to extra radio frequency paths in the circuit that are just for specific frequency ranges.  As well as showing a bar graph, the 1216 model can even tell you what kind of signal it's found, displaying messages like cordless DECT device on standby, active DECT device, GSM, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth.
 
5G SPECTRUM DETECTION
The 5G spectrum works on two types of bands:
 
6.0 GHz frequencies can get through walls and windows, so mobile devices will use these frequencies in cities about 90% of the time.
 
mmWave frequencies give you fast data but only work when they can 'see' the base stations, usually in open spaces like stadiums or for big base stations (BS) talking to smaller, local ones.  Then, the local BS sends the signals out again on the sub 6.0 GHz.
 
The 1216 unit can spot frequencies below 6.0 GHz.  Spotting mmWave is trickier, but it's not likely to be used for bugging inside buildings.
